Child safety is one of, if not the most important consideration when leaving your little one at a nursery and under the watchful eye of childcare professionals. Nobody wants to drop their child off before work with anxiety hanging over their head that inadequate care may be carried out, therefore assurances before you decide upon a nursery can prove extremely reassuring. Locally trusted and committed to safeguarding as well as health and safety, let Eastleigh and Hedge End’s Little Acorns Day Nursery take you through some of the most important elements of nursery child welfare.
Child Protection
As you would expect from a professional nursery setting, the protection and welfare of children under our supervision is of paramount importance. We have strong procedures in place to prevent the impairment of children’s health and development, while children in our care are supported by offering reassurance, comfort and sensitive interactions. For us, protection constitutes everything from preventing harm, to ensuring a child feels safe and well on an individual basis.
From the way in which children are interacted with, to activities which are devised according to individual circumstances, we work with children, parents, external agencies and the community to ensure the welfare and safety of children – and to give them the very best start in life. Children have the right to be treated with respect and to be safe from any abuse in whatever form when you leave them in our care.
Health And Safety
From a health and safety point of view, our policy at Little Acorns Day Nursery is to provide and maintain safe working conditions, equipment and systems of work. We provide information and training to staff consistently to meet this purpose, working towards a strong health and safety culture within the grounds of our nursery.
As a result of our policies across the board, all contracted nursery staff are trained in paediatric first aid, and this training is updated every three years to ensure it remains current. This doesn’t apply just within the four walls of our Eastleigh or Hedge End branches either – for example, when children are taken on an outings away from our nursery, we will always ensure they are accompanied by at least one member of staff who is trained in first aid and who carries an appropriate first aid box at all times.
Selecting The Right Nursery
When selecting the nursery setting for your child, there’s much more than location to consider, with quality of learning, facilities, flexibility and (as we’ve covered here) child welfare to account for. When you bring your child to Little Acorns, we don’t want you to feel like you’re putting them into a formal nursery, we want you to feel like they’re visiting their home away from home, and above anything else, our aim is to provide your child with the same care, affection and attention they would receive here.
Choose Little Acorns for:
- Fully equipped and certified staff
- Practitioners with nationally recognised qualifications
- Employees equipped with in-house training, external training to improve skills and paediatric first aid qualifications.

At our Hedge End and Eastleigh locations, we work extremely hard to earn the trust of the parents who leave their children in our care.
